The modern dry vane pump has been successful in easing out the extreme working pressure in industries. As the name suggests, it doesn’t require water or air to operate. The dry rotary vane pump used in the secondary air injection helps to exhaust emission control automatically. This vacuum pump has been helpful in providing braking assistance to large trucks as well as diesel-powered passenger cars.
Its simplicity of operation contributes to its feature of being cost-effective to repair and repurchase. The built-in particulate filters and silencers for operation make it feasible for general uses, too.
Uses Of The Dry Vane Pump
It is a kind of positive displacement pump which is commonly used for both domestic and industrial purpose. The following is the list of vehicles and machines where it is widely used to operate.
- As carbonators for fountain soft- drink dispensers
- As carbonators in espresso coffee machines
- Air-conditioning
- High-pressured hydraulic pumps
- Automatic-transmission pump
- Used in a low-pressure chemical vapor deposition system.
Measures
The operator has to make certain preparations for the entire operation and the preparation has to be carried out while taking into consideration the following measures.
Recommended Installation Site:
- A clean place is suggested to get the installation done so that the pump is kept away from dust and dirt.
- Well ventilated place with ambient temperature ranging between 0°C(34°F)-40°C(104°F)
- A place where no water or oil will come in contact with the pump.
- A place that is not directly exposed to the sunlight.
- Enough surrounding available for maintenance, inspection, and disassembling.
Installation:
The operator has to be careful while installing the pump and has to follow the guidelines mentioned below.
- Install the pump on a smooth surface level
- The concrete surface is often recommended for the installation, yet under the case of the unavailability of such a surface, the pump can be installed on a steel or wooden frame.
- Use a forklift vehicle or a supporting tool to carry it.
Installation Direction:
The following instruction has to be followed while installing the pump:
- When the dry vane pump is installed, make sure that there is enough space between the fall and the wall. Space more than 10cm between the fan and the wall would be enough for ventilation.
- Belt cover should be made to face opposite to the wall for the effective cooling of the exhaust fan.
Piping:
- Direct connection with the steel pipe can cause resonance with the piping system, which may result in disturbing noises and vibration. In such cases, the direct connection with the steel pipe should be avoided. Use a hose or exhaust piping.
- The hose of the exhaust piping system should be done properly so that the condensed water does not get inside the pump.
- If the dry vane pump is not frequently used then, it should be kept idle for 10-15 mins after the operation.
- If reverse rotation occurs due to the residual pressure while stopping the pump, then it may cause damage to the blades. It is recommended to install a check valve within the 50cm of the pump inlet port. It should be installed in level to the floor in order to avoid the pulsation and abnormal noises from its operation.
- Sealing tapes should not be used while connecting the pipes as it may cause abnormal sound and malfunction in operation.
The usage and measures of dry vane pumps have made the daily operation of work easier and cost-effective. Sticking to the guidelines of operation is a must and should be followed accordingly to get a long-lasting functioning of the dry vane pump.
